Color Report! Spring 2013

Ciao fashionistas! So today's lesson in fashion 101 is to always keep up with the color trends of the upcoming season.  My fav website to use when doing this is PANTONE. During my four fab years at Lasell in my merchandising classes, we would often use this site as a reference, for, well everything. Everyone obvi used this for their fashion trends project and any other paper or project that involved a color palette! This site reports the "why" of the color and how it is to be mixed and matched with other "it" colors this spring.  You all can also read up on fashion designer and trend setter's opinions and color choices for the Spring 2013 season!  Don't forget to check out all the awesome aspects of this site! You won't regret it!

NOW INTRODUCING SPRING 2013 COLOR TRENDS:

PANTONE COLOR TRENDS SPRING 2013
"This season, designers overwhelmingly address consumers' desire for self-expression, balance and the need to re-energize. The color direction for spring builds upon these compelling needs with a palette that mixes dynamic brights with novel neutrals to create a harmonious balance. This allows for unique combinations that offer practicality and versatility, but at the same time, demand attention and earn an appreciative glance."

Super excited to wear emerald green, nectarine and poppy red!

Which colors are you ready to strut your stuff in this spring???

Trends We LOVE: Fringe

Shake shake shake, shake shake shake, shake your fringe girl! One trend that I am absolutely loving for this Spring/Summer 2013 is fringe on everything.  I recently purchased the best dress from Forever 21 that is cobalt blue with blue fringe down the front.  Also I need a fringe bathing suit ASAP! Fringe is popping up all over everything like sandals, earrings, shirts and dresses.  Fringe showed up all over the runway and is ready to hit the streets within a couple of months! Let the fringe season begin!

Top 5 Reasons Why we LOVE: BIRCHBOX

We hope all you beauty-obbsessed babes get BIRCHBOX once a month like we both do.  You are truly missing out if you do not have a monthly subscription to satisfy your constant beauty needs!  BIRCHBOX sends you about 5 samples in a box each month of different beauty products to try!  If you really like one product, you can buy it on their website.  They send everything from makeup to hair products and even sometimes a snack such as a Luna Bar or a Godiva square (YUM!).  Here are the top five reasons why we love love love BIRCHBOX:

1. Special Delivery: Who doesn't like getting a present every month? Whether you buy it for yourself, or you received it as a gift from someone, it's great to open up a box full of beauty products every month.  PLUS it comes in a hot pink box! Need we say more?

2. Presentation:  When you receive a BIRCHBOX, it has pink tissue inside like it's all wrapped up for your birthday and perfume products have their own boxes.  It's great to explore your box and see the designer products that are inside!

3. Product: The products are always top quality and amazing!  We have received 2 samples of juicy couture perfumes, an amazing MODEL Co. lipgloss, B&B products, Color Club nail polishes and much more!  They always include an information card as well describing each product and the price for the full-size.

4. www.birchbox.com - This site is filled with step-by-step articles on how to apply certain products as well as video tutorials!  Browsing the site for all new products and favs is the best.  Plus, they also sell men versions of the BIRCHBOX, so what could be better?

5. The Dream:  This seriously is the ultimate go-to beauty company when wanting to try new products! It allows you to "try before you buy" which is a great money saver :)

So basically you should go to http://www.birchbox.com and get your monthly subscription right now!

Beauty Balm

I'm loving beauty balm cream lately. I strongly encourage you to go to sephora or Ulta and get a sample of urban decay's new bb cream called "Naked". It just recently came out. It evens your skin tone, helps with under eye darkness, and also helps repair your skin while providing light coverage. It is some what the same consistency as tinted moisturizer, which is beyond perfect for the upcoming spring season. Nobody likes a cake face! Bb cream is light and doesn't make you feel like you have a ton of makeup on. When its 95 degrees out a little bb cream, powder foundation with some bronzer on your T zone - you're set to go.

Another good trick to keep in mind is that you can always add a light moisturizing cream to your foundation and make a tinted moisturizer. Dab a little on your hand (I use Aveeno) and it provides coverage on your face with out a super thick foundation feel.

Fashion Finds

Good morning fashionistas! Yesterday I had a little time before work to stop at one of my favorite places - TJ Maxx & I wanted to share my finds. Love love love Tj Maxx and Marshall's. They always have awesome brand name things for less, adorable bags, and amazing prices. Very rarely do I ever leave TJ Maxx with out buying something!

Yesterday I found an adorable mint green tank top (sheer in the back) for only $9.99. Perfect for spring, can either dress it up with a blazer or dress it down with jeans, a long necklace would love awesome with it. My favorite find is my new clutch, it's a gun metal color with gold, rose gold, hematite and silver studs. It also has a chain strap so you can wear it around your shoulder. It was originally $19 and on sale for $16 (2 dollars saved is still something!) So glad I found this before an upcoming trip to Atlantic City! What are some of your best TJ Maxx finds?

High-Low There!

High-low dresses are still super popular and trendy these days even though it has been about a year since they made their first appearance.  This coming spring get ready for a new high-low trend: RUFFLES.  Yes, ruffles are going to be incorporated in the high-low look to add drama and flair.  Flamenco-style is in ladies, so get ready to salsa with the best! JK. BUT if you don't embrace this new ruffle trend, then you might as well just cut yourself off from civilization completely.  Ruffle tops, sweaters, shorts and tanks will be bouncing around this spring season!  Can't wait to embrace the power of the ruffle.  Gucci, Balenciaga and Givenchy have never steered us wrong before, so let's follow the trend and make it fab.

Queen B

We love our girl Beyonce. Hope everyone is watching her documentary right now on HBO "Life is But a Dream". She's such a diva and inspiration to us. She loves life and follows her dreams! She believes that women will rule the world and somewhat do already, obvi. Girls will run the world. She is so right when she states women should have the same opportunities as men and everything should be equal. From her hair to her bootylicious dancing, she truly is an amazing woman. Spilling secrets and opening up right now to all her fans is amazing, and this is why we truly worship the Queen B.

The Day of Love

Ciao fashionistas! Well today is the day where you send your loved one two dozen roses or a box of Godiva chocolates. Yes, it's Valentine's Day! If you don't celebrate, you can celebrate what I like to call Single Girl Swag Day which involves going out with a group of your single girlfriends and drinking Margs on Margs while celebrating your freedom. Don't get me wrong, I love a cute V-Day card and of course chocolate, but I've never truly been a fan of this holiday. It just points out who is single and who is in somewhat of a functional relationship in life. It's 8:45am and I've already seen a delivery man carrying a dozen red roses around trying to find out where to deliver them so that being said it's going to be a long day of men last minute shopping and lovey doveyness here at the mall. Hugs and kisses from me! I'll be enjoying my strawberry marg tonight with my best girlfriends ;)

Xoxo,
C

A+O and BJ @ NYFW

Last night, two of my favorite designers, Alice + Olivia by Stacey Bendet and Betsey Johnson showed their FW 2013 lines!  Alice + Olivia made a statement by deferring from the typical runway show.  Instead, they did presentation at the Highline Stages in the Mercedes-Benz fashion tent.  It was gorgeous and set up to show the new fall gowns in one section and fantasy street style in the other.  Take a look below!
A+O Fall Gowns

One of my favs! A+O 2013

I NEED THIS A+O BAG ASAP.

A+O FW2013

Bestey Johnson is known for her crazy, outrageous outfits and that is just what she has given us this FW 2013 season! With bright colors and crazy prints, her models lit up the runway last night and made a statement as per usual.  She also had many of the models taking selfies with their iPhones on stage! This makes me LOL and wonder were they snapchatting? instagramming? or did she want to get the point across that we are simply so vein and into ourselves now that we constantly use camera phones to take our own photos 24/7.  Either way, she made me think about it so she def got her point across that technology runs our lives pretty much! Here's a look at the crazy colors and of course it wouldn't be a Betsey show without her famous cartwheel into a split at the end of the runway! Enjoy fashionistas ;)

NYFW- DVF

DVF FW2013

NEW YORK FASHION WEEK CONTINUES! Last night one of the most inspirational women in fashion rocked the runway with her Fall 2013 line entitled "GLAM ROCK".  That's right, Diane Von Furstenberg took the runway by storm last night and introduced everyone to "life's a party"- the just live it type of fashion.  Now I am a huge fan of Diane after seeing her in person a few years back and listening to her fashion success story.  She made me realize that anything is possible if you truly put your mind to it and nothing can stand in your way if you just believe.  She is also very into supporting women and our takeover the world ;) She is the OG of printed and solid wrap dresses.  The DVF wrap dress is a classy and sophisticated look for women any age! In the words of Diane, "Wrapped in a swirl of twisted chain link, she steps into the night. With an effortless glamour, she winks at herself and smiles at her shadow ... In sky-high metallic heels, she swaggers across the cityscape ... She is the rock star and the muse of her own life. Her clothes are her friends. Life is a party.”

Take a look at the show here (it's amaze).

AH. dying over this friendship.

Red Carpet Picks!

Who watched The Grammys last night?! Of course we didn’t miss the red carpet, Chelsea and I came up with our choices for

Best dressed of the night

  1. Rihanna- In her custom made Azzedine Alaia red dress. Absolutely gorgeous and we are loving her long hair. This was a more soft look for her, but she looked amazing, even if her high beams were turned on all night (Better high beams than a nip slip lol). She looked stunning.
  2. Carrie Underwood- She seriously is cute as a button. Wearing a black Roberto Cavalli dress. Did everyone see her 381 Karat diamond necklace. I mean how could you miss it? Hands down Carrie is one of the most gorgeous females alive. I love seeing her in white too, and she has the best hair. Carrie trade lives for a day with us? So glamerous.
  3. Kelly Rowland- Damn girl. She was showing some skin in her Georges Chakra dress. Loved it! She certainly defied the new dress code, but who cares she looked awesome. Plus she told us about a new nail polish line she’s been using called RGB Nails, which uses less chemicals in their polish, we will need to look into that! The RGB colors she chose were called nude and flint. Her jewelry was by the fabulous Lorraine Schwartz.
  4. Taylor Swift-Wearing a cream and white dress by J. Mendell made from chiffon with amazing beaded straps. She wore Jimmy Choo heels.  I wasn’t super crazy about her hair in the braid thing she had going on, I thought it looked better when she took it down. Also very surprised to hear that she did her own nails! This is the Grammys T. Swift! We know you have $12 for a quick polish change at least.
  5. Beyonce- Honestly B can rock anything. She’s so classy. She kept it simple in her black and white Osman jump suit. Did anyone see her butt? Jealous. Love B!

A lot of the men on the red carpet were wearing Tom Ford including the gorgeous Justin Timberlake (drool), Tim McGraw, and Wiz Khalifa. (Whose baby Mama Amber Rose looks like she could pop any second)

Questionable look(s) of the night:
Jennifer Lopez. The woman is beautiful, put her in a paper bag and she would still be a knock out, but I wasn’t crazy about her black dress, with the giant leg slit, by Anthony Vaccarello. She did however have some awesome cuff bracelets on and amazing shoes.
&
Katie Perry. Her kitty Purrys were about to come out and play. I love mint, for blazers, manicures, tops, scarves, a lot of things, but I thought this mint was over done, it looked like a stretched out piece of Stride gum and very spand-exy. Where’s our Katie Perry that wears cupcakes on her boobs?! Her dress was by Gucci and she said inspired by Priscilla Preseley.

And Unfortunately our least favorite look of the night:
Florence Welch in Givanche. Sorry there was no way around it she looked like a dinosaur. I can’t wait to watch fashion police and hear what Joan Rivers has to say about that one.

Who were your grammy favs? Live from the red carpets is the best! I love Giuliana Rancic and was so excited when she showed her manicure in the Mani-Cam and was wearing “Ballet Flats” by Essie, one of my favorite colors.

What do you think of our Choices?
